What to Do Once You Get Engaged

First of all – congratulations! If you’re reading this, you’ve probably just said “yes” and you’re still floating in that little engagement bubble (as you should be!).
Whether it was a private moment or a full-on surprise surrounded by your favourite people, I hope it felt magical.
Now that the big question’s been asked, you might be wondering… what next?
So many couples come to me feeling a mix of excitement and “where do we even start?!” – and I get it. That’s why I’ve put together this little guide to help you take those next steps, calmly and confidently.
1. Take a Breather & Celebrate the Moment
Before diving into any planning, take a minute to enjoy being engaged. Go out for dinner, plan a cheeky weekend away, or just stay in and tell everyone the story on repeat (honestly, that part’s the best!).
This is such a special time – soak it all in.
2. Got Your Date and Venue? Amazing – Now Book Your Stylist
Once you’ve locked in your wedding date and venue, that’s the green light to bring in your stylist – that’s where I come in.
At ZAZ Events, styling is about more than just pretty things (although yes, we love the pretty things!). I work with you to bring your vision to life – whether you’ve got a full Pinterest board ready or no clue where to start. My job is to make it feel like you, from start to finish.
3. Start Thinking About Your Vibe
Romantic and candlelit? Bright and bold? A fusion of cultures and traditions? Whatever your vision looks like (even if it’s still fuzzy!), I’ll help you shape it into something that feels authentic, stylish and totally personal.
We can play with textures, colours, flowers, props – all the fun stuff – while making sure it works with your venue and feels cohesive throughout the day.
4. Don’t Forget the Ceremony Setting
It’s so easy to get swept up in the reception plans, but your ceremony space is just as important. That’s where the magic begins. Whether it’s a traditional chuppah, a dreamy floral arch, or something totally unique to you – I can help you design a setting that feels intentional and emotional.
Planning a destination wedding? Even better. I’ve styled weddings in Morocco where couples said "I do" in the desert at sunset or even mid-air in a hot air balloon with champagne in hand – yes, really. It’s your moment. Let’s make it unforgettable.
5. Styling Is More Than Just Decor
Working with me means we’re not just putting out a few candles and centrepieces – we’re creating a full experience. I make sure your theme runs through every touchpoint of your day, from your aisle backdrop to the reception tables, signage, entrance moments and everything in between.
It’s about telling your story, visually – and doing it with style.
6. If You’re Feeling Overwhelmed – That’s Totally Normal
There’s so much inspo out there – and that can make things confusing. If you’re feeling a bit stuck or unsure where to begin, that’s when you know it’s time to bring someone on board who gets it.
I’ll help you sort through the noise, stay true to your vision, and make decisions that feel right for you both.
7. Ready When You Are
Once your date and venue are confirmed, that’s the perfect time to get in touch with your stylist the earlier, the better. It gives us plenty of time to dream big, source beautiful things, and create something meaningful with no last-minute stress.
I’m here to guide you through the process and bring your wedding vision to life in a way that feels effortless, thoughtful and beautifully you.
Big hugs,
Zayna x
(Your wedding styling bestie at ZAZ Events)
